This review introduces how we directly image giant exoplanets to understand their formation, evolution, and atmospheres. It summarizes progress in instrumentation and surveys, then presents key discoveries about young giant planets. It concludes with perspectives on detecting signs of life in a future exo-Earth atmosphere.
